Founded in 2003, ACATHI is a non-profit organisation based in Barcelona that works with and for LGBTIQ+ migrants and refugees in Spain. It supports people who have experienced displacement, persecution and exclusion because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, while promoting their rights, wellbeing and social inclusion.
ACATHI provides safe accommodation, support through asylum and international protection processes, and legal, psychosocial and community-based assistance. It also works with LGBTIQ+ people experiencing other forms of vulnerability, including homelessness and social exclusion, and creates spaces where people can build community, access support and strengthen their independence.
