Brigitte Baltazar Lujano (she/her) is the Program Coordinator for Al Otro Lado’s Border Rights Project. She is a champion for migrant and LGBTQI+ rights. Her personal journey, overcoming undocumented status, deportation, and incarceration in the U.S., fuels her passionate advocacy.
Brigitte leads Al Otro Lado’s LGBTQI+ Services, ensuring trans and queer migrants have access to crucial support, including housing, medical care, and life-saving antiretroviral therapies. Her dedication and innovative strategies make her a trusted resource within migrant communities across Mexico. As Brigitte says, “My life has taught me that a system can change your life, but it can’t break your soul.”
