Adrian King Kibe

Adrian King Kibe (he/him) is a Kenyan human rights researcher, advocate, and legal practitioner whose work focuses on the rights of sexual and gender minorities, with particular expertise on the experiences of LGBTQI+ refugees and asylum seekers in East Africa. He has led and supported research, advocacy, and policy initiatives on human rights, displacement, legal protection, and social inclusion through his work with the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), where he leads the organization’s work on sexual and gender minorities. He has also led initiatives on minority rights at Amka Africa Justice Initiative, including a pioneering ethnographic study, conducted in partnership with the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), examining the lived experiences of LGBTQI+ refugees in urban areas.

Beyond his national work, Adrian serves as the African Regional Focal Point for the Equality and Equity Pillar of the International Network of Civil Liberties Organizations (INCLO), supporting collaboration, knowledge exchange, and collective advocacy among civil liberties organizations across the continent. His experience includes documenting human rights violations, supporting strategic litigation and legal reform efforts, coordinating protection and advocacy programmes, and engaging with regional and international human rights mechanisms, including the African human rights system. His work combines evidence-based research with legal and policy advocacy to strengthen protection frameworks and advance equality, inclusion, and access to justice.
