The project uses a mixed-methods, participatory, and decolonial research framework. It is grounded in the principle that people with lived experience should shape not only the evidence produced but also the ethical, analytical and political directions of the work.

Participatory & creative methods are central to the project

These approaches are designed to create richer forms of evidence, support more inclusive forms of participation, and open up different ways of communicating research beyond academic audiences. The project also works through regional steering committees and an Alternative Ethics Board to ensure accountability to the communities at its centre.
